Welcome to April at Strong Girls United 🌸

This past month, we celebrated the strength, resilience, and impact of women and girls across our community and beyond. At Strong Girls United, Women’s History Month is a powerful reminder of why we do this work—to create spaces where girls feel seen, supported, and empowered to dream boldly. It is our mission to do this in all 50 states.

From mentorship moments to community events and everyday wins, we continue to see what’s possible when girls are given the tools, support, and belief they deserve. As we turn the page to April, we carry that momentum forward—continuing to build strong bodies, kind hearts, and unstoppable minds.

On the Horizon

Special Event Announcement!!

On April 11, our Founder and Executive Director, Lani Silversides, will be throwing out the first pitch for Little League Opening Day in York, Maine after their 10:00 parade and ceremony!

Just down the street from the field, The Hub will be hosting a very special guest—former MLB player and New York Times bestselling author Micah Johnson—for a book signing of his new release, Aku: Journey to Ibra.

Micah’s story and message align so powerfully with what we teach every day at Strong Girls United: protect your dreams. His work reminds young people that their dreams matter—and that they are worth believing in, even when the path isn’t easy.

The PWHL Mentorship Program in Action

This month—and heading into April—our mentees have had the incredible opportunity to attend PWHL games, cheer on their mentors, and connect with them in person after. These moments bring the power of mentorship to life in a truly unforgettable way.

In honor of International Women’s Day, the PWHL launched a special campaign inviting supporters to donate $23 in recognition of the 23-hour day. In just one week, over $11,000 was raised by over 400 donors in support of this program—an amazing show of belief in mentorship through women’s sports.
