Bravery, Confidence, & Connection
Oct 17, 2025
Hi all! This past week at The Hub, we explored the meaning of confidence. What it means to be confident, how to choose to take action in the unknown, and identify times in which we have been confident and the results of it. For this post I’ve decided to dedicate speaking about my experience in moving to Maine!
Moving to Maine was one of the bravest things I’ve ever done. I was so nervous — really nervous. I didn’t know anyone here, didn’t have a favorite coffee shop or walking route, and wasn’t sure what this new chapter would bring or look like. However, I knew one thing for certain: I wanted to grow, to challenge myself, and to be part of something that truly matters.
Starting my journey with Strong Girls United this past August has taught me that confidence isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about having the courage to take action even when you don’t know the outcome or have the answers. True confidence, I’ve realized, is found in those small moments of bravery: saying yes to the unknown, showing up when it feels uncomfortable, and trusting the process even when you’re unsure of where it will lead.
In just over a month, I’ve met so many incredible and inspiring people who have already made Maine feel like home. I’ve learned from passionate mentors, created new friendships, found favorite local spots to eat, and explored some of the most beautiful sites in Southern Maine. Every new experience has reminded me how growth happens when we step outside our comfort zone — when we choose courage over certainty.
I’ve also learned how much my support system means to me. I wouldn’t have been able to take this leap without the people who encouraged me, believed in me, and supported my dreams. Their love and faith in me made all the difference. Because even on the days when I feel lonely or unsure, I’ve realized that I’m never truly alone. There’s always someone cheering me on — near or far — and that reminder keeps me grounded and grateful.
Being part of Strong Girls United is already shaping me in ways I didn’t expect – In the best way possible. It’s helping me grow more confident, adaptable, and connected — not just to others, but to myself. And I’m so excited to keep learning, growing, and making an impact with this incredible community.
I challenge you to take an action of courage and to have the ability to recognize that not knowing the outcome can be scary, but also the best part in focusing on the journey.
XX,
Lilly
